I'm an American living in Kenya and it's difficult to find good pickles here. People laughed that I bought this huge pot and dragged it all the way to Africa, until they taste my pickles! Now, I actually have people coming to my house with their own cucumbers begging me to pickle them :) It's a beautiful pot, a great conversation piece and a wonderful method for creating pickled vegetables. My family is from Poland and we have a lot of sauerkraut recipes and sauerkraut is another product in Kenya that's either not available, or expensive and not great quality. Not only are the pickled vegetables from this pot delicious, but the health benefits of lacto-fermented products are out of this world. If you're even considering getting this pot, just do it- you won't be disappointed. The only draw back is that the weights which go inside the pot and which come with the purchase are a bit small in circumference so I've had to McGyver my own broad-surfaced covers (tupperwear lids, etc.) to cover the food inside and them set the weights on top.
